Thank you 2018, Next

Now that a new year has just started, I wanted to reevaluate the commitments, obligations, relationships and overall stuff I have in my life. Sometimes, life can get so busy that I find myself operating on auto pilot and allowing priorities to go by the wayside. For the last 4 years now, I have been investing in self development/awareness in the hopes that I'd gain the maturity and drive to be the better version of myself. Absorbing in copious amounts of empowering podcasts, YouTube videos and books have become practices I've implemented into my daily regime - and what a difference they have made.

2018 was definitely a year of much improvement and growth for my self and my family.

  • I was able to re-establish myself with my previous employment role as the Estee Lauder Counter Manager at the Northgate Nordstrom location; there I met a group of amazing, caring and authentic individuals that I instantly connected with.

  • For many years, I had given up the notion of having a pet family member again due to the passings of our previous beloved family pets. But in May of 2018, I decided to open up my heart again and after 2 visits to Noah Animal Shelter in Stanwood WA - the first with just Hank and I and the second with Alaina to make sure they'd get along- we met Daryl our future fur child - the rest is history. I love him so much.

  • Hank, my husband, and I found and bought our dream family home. This was the home we had envisioned for ourselves back when we were both younger and aspiring first time home owners still living in Los Angeles, CA.

  • Besides, our mortgage, Hank and I have become completely debt free for the first time ever.

  • Towards the end of the year, I decided to let go of my job title and the financial stability it provided to set out and pursue my dreams of finishing school and educating myself in the whole world of Naturopathic Nutrition. It was scary but I am a firm believer on the fact that it is in those moments of discomfort in which we grow the most.

It has become apparent as to me as I've gotten older and wiser that the majority of the people I encounter through out various life obligations and events have a certain amount of expectations when it comes to life and the people around them or that they feel entitled to things or situations. I'm empathetic when it starts off with these feelings and outlooks on life because I was once there. However, by perpetuating those perspectives and never putting into action the necessary steps that could elevate the quality of ones life would just be a complete waste of one's energy and time. I'm a firm proponent of living by example. If I have hopes and dreams for a better tomorrow, I damn sure will exemplify those qualities today. Stop moping around and complaining. Stop playing the victim card (it's gotten old). Appreciation. Authenticity. Kindness. Gratitude - qualities that I find to be absolutely breath taking.
