My favorite affordable 90's brown lip liners
*Purchased by me*
Hi Guys!
Today I wanted to share with you my favorite MLBB(my lips but better)/browny type lip liners. The 90's matte brown lipstick look is totally on trend at the moment and celebrities such as Kylie Jenner have pushed it to the mainstream level. As soon as the youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan started showing up on red carpets and posting selfies on social media with that matte brown lip look, makeup lovers everywhere went crazy wanting to replicate the exact look. I went through my stash and pulled out 5 drugstore lip liners that will totally give you that 90's brown lip look without breaking the bank.
First off is Milani Color Statement Lip Liner in the color All Natural. I love this line of lip liners because the formula is so smooth and easy to apply on the lips. I never have problems with these liners tugging or skipping on my lips during application. This is a pencil liner that you need to sharpen. Because of how creamy it is, it's easy to over sharpen so be careful lol! Definitely an HG(holy grail) product for me. I would describe All Natural as a matte peachy brown. The price will range between $3.50-$4.99 depending where you can get it. http://milanicosmetics.com/Color-Statement-Lipliner.html
Secondly is Milani Color Statement Lip Liner in Spice. Spice is a tad darker than All Natural. I would describe it as a matte peachy brown with a hint of mauve in it.
Thirdly is Jordana EasyLiner for Lips in the color Rock n' Rose. Jordana also owns Milani Cosmetics so if you can't get your hands on Milani go for Jordana if it is available to you. Jordana Easy Liner for Lips is my second favorite line of drugstore lip liners (Milani being the first). It is a retractable lip liner so no sharpening required. The formula glides on smoothly with minimal tugging. It isn't as creamy or opaque as Milani's Color Statement but for the price ($1.99) it is an excellent product. I have almost all the colors they offer and for what it costs, you won't feel guilty collecting all the colors ;P. Rock n' Rose is similar to Milani Spice but with less mauve in it. You can find Jordana at you local Walgreens. http://www.jordanacosmetics.com/p-98-easyliner-for-lips.aspx
The fourth liner is NYX Lip Liner Pencil in the color Mauve. NYX Mauve has been noted by many as a dupe for MAC lip liner in the color Whirl. I don't personally have Whirl but I have swatched it many times in store. They definitely look alike and if you don't want to spend $16 on Whirl, Mauve is a great dupe to try out. I find the NYX pencil liners to not be as creamy as Jordana or Milani. I do experience some skipping and tugging on the lips and sharpening is required. I would describe Mauve to be a matte mauvey brown. I know NYX displays are popping up at a lot of drugstores but I've only seen the Lip Liner Pencils at Ulta for $3.50 http://www.nyxcosmetics.com/p-117-slim-lip-pencil.aspx
Lastly is Jordana Easy Liner for Lips in Tawny. This is my go to liner for any medium pink MLBB lipstick look I'm going for. I would describe this as the perfect matte pinky brown lip liner. It will go with any medium pink or nude lipstick.
Of course there are many other drugstore matte brown lip liner options to choose from but these are some of my drugstore favs that I wanted to share. I hope this was helpful. Thanks for clicking and have a great day everyone!
