It is currently 7am on February 2nd and I'm sitting at my dining table having breakfast with my husband. We both like to get up early and sip our coffees together while we chat before our daughter gets up. I cherish these moments I have with my husband because it is during these chats is when we take time to reminisce on our past and plan out our futures together. At the moment, the Winter season is still in full gear in the Pacific Northwest and that takes away the fun from being outside. The forecast actually indicates that we'll have a couple frosty days with highs in the mid 30s degree F and lows in the mid 10s. So Cold!!! I'm really excited for the Spring and Summer seasons to arrive because that is when this whole region comes to life - literally. The Everett Farmers Market will commence once again starting in May and for once I'm actually be looking forward to my birthday month - July; I can finally start enjoying my spring and summer seasons again.

Let me include some background on why I have this sense of relief and excitement towards the upcoming warmer weather. I use to be a counter manager in the cosmetic department at Nordstrom. Every July, Nordstrom has their annual largest sale of the year - The Anniversary Sale. As a counter manager for the Estee Lauder beauty brand, I had to organize their Anniversary Gift with Purchase promotion that always coincided with Nordstrom's Sale so suffice to say the sales goals were extremely high and stress inducing. My anxiety would always go through the roof during this period and instead of resting on my days off, I felt like I was recovering instead. That is why I decided, back in October of 2018 I was going to prioritize my family, mental health and personal goals ahead of work and be free of that sort of unhealthy arbitrary work stress.
This July, I actually plan on making a trip out to Leavenworth WA. The village of Leavenworth went through a gentrification process during the 1960's to increase tourism - the new design reflects the Bavarian culture and aesthetic. The downtown district is a picture perfect work of art influenced by provincial Germany. Down in Southern California, there is a similar city in Solvang CA that has the same aesthetic. Making a day trip out to Leavenworth has been on my bucket list since moving to Washington state a little over four years ago. I have so much to feel grateful for and to look forward to.

The Downtown District is a scene from right out of the movies. So Beautiful.
